Geez he's only in charge of the US FEDERAL RESERVE BANK!"A recession is possible," said Bernanke. "Our estimates are that we're slightly growing at the moment, but we think that there's a chance that for the first half as a whole there might be a slight contraction."
"A recession is a technical term," he said. "I'm not yet ready to say whether or not the U.S. economy will face such a situation."
He also added with a shrug, "Cross your fingers and hope for the best."
OK, I made up that last line, though I would not be surprised to hear his replacement saying that.
Taxpayer dollars to the rescue...
